Jazz Inside | Jazz Improv was the direct product of Mr. Nemeyer's three decades of experience as a music industry professional performing, composing/arranging, teaching, recording, and publishing. As the exclusive Founder, Creator, Publisher, President, and 100% company shareholder of Jazz Improv, beginning with the magazine's inception in 1997 & continuing to 2008, Mr. Nemeyer built the customer base of subscribers & advertisers & developed the nationwide and international distribution network of leading retail chains (Tower, Barnes & Noble, Borders & others) that sold Jazz Improv. In 2005, Mr. Nemeyer solely and exclusively founded, created, and launched the monthly Jazz Improv NY Magazine (print+digital), including interviews, reviews, articles, and comprehensive listings of jazz events. To build the Jazz Improv brand, Mr. Nemeyer, solely and exclusively, created the concept & business plan for Jazz Improv LIVE, a 4-day convention in NY in 2007. As Producer, he made 80 panels & workshops; booked 100 performances by leading & emerging artists, created all marketing and direct-marketing plans and materials, advertising & PR copy; sold sponsorships to industry participants & directed all other sponsorship sales & activities. In July 2009, Jazz Improv and Jazz Improv NY published their final issues. To simplify his demanding publishing schedule and pursue additional opportunities and big band and small group composing and arranging commissions, Mr. Nemeyer replaced the two earlier publications - Jazz Improv and Jazz Improv NY - with Jazz Inside. Mr. Nemeyer was the Founder, Owner, Publisher, President, and 100% shareholder (1997-2008) of Jazz Improv Magazine & Jazz Improv NY Mag (2005-2009). Jazz Inside, published monthly in print and digitally downloadable formats, is designed for jazz fans worldwide and covers the broadest landscape of music defined under the Jazz & improvisational banners. As the independent voice that stays above the fray, Jazz Inside strives to communicate Jazz's mind, body & spirit. Each issue features reviews of recordings, exclusive in-depth interviews that supply insights into this ever-evolving music, a comprehensive calendar of performances and events, and magnificent photos & galleries. Jazz Inside is now a digital publication, with limited quantities of print editions available to order from the Jazz Inside website. Previously, Jazz Inside was open at hundreds of outlets in the NY area and around the USA - at jazz clubs, performance venues, retail outlets, and tourist centers, and distributed to school music programs.
